Phone apps are amazing tools to use in your health and wellness journey. When done right, these apps can be so helpful in helping you get into exercise, track your food, track your exercise progress, etc. Here are some apps that I’ve personally used in my own health journey.Myfitnesspal

Myfitnesspal – track food and water intake

Myfitnesspal

I use Myfitness pal to track my food and water intake. The cool thing about this app is it gives me a good idea of how much is caloric intake, what;s the nutritional value of foods I eat, track how much water I drink, etc. I can tailor it to my current height/weight stats and put what my target weight is. It’s a free app, and you have to pay additional if you want more advanced features of this app. I used the free non-upgraded version and it worked well for me.

Couch to 5k running app – start running from zero experience

Couch to 5K® - Apps on Google Play
Couch to 5k

I use ActiveNetwork.com’s Couch to 5k program. I originally completed their program back in 2014 and I recently started myself back on this program to work on my run since I haven’t been consisted with it. This app will train you from 0 miles to running a 5k non-stop in 9 weeks. You don’t have to use this specific app necessarily. There are many free couch to 5k apps available online. I personally like and use Active Network’s version of the Couch to 5k app.

Mapmyfitness – track exercises such as running, walking, etc.

I use this app to track other exercises that I do that is not covered on the couch to 5k app. It not only tracks running, but it can also track other activities, such as dog walking, weight lifting, cycling, etc. I can also map the routes I take, track my progress, and much more. You do have to sign up for an account, but the app is free. You do have to pay extra for advanced features, but with the free version, you will get a lof of features already. I just use the free app version.

Whichever app you end up using, make sure that you can use it with no problems. All of these apps can be found in the Apple store and Google play. You don’t necessarily need to use paid apps right away if you’re starting out. Start with using free apps, unless you want to buy a specific app. Use your phone to your advantage and enjoy! You can do this!
